Details
The room is at the front of the house while all the living spaces are at the back of the house, making it a very quiet and relaxing space, giving you the option of privacy and the ability to be almost self-contained.

The room is spacious and airy, with a peaceful vibe. The room contains two double wardrobes and extra shelf space, a bedside chest of drawers, a desk and a chair, and a large, newly refurbished ensuite with heaps of storage and a big lovely shower.

The bed is a large queen sized very comfortable sofa bed, giving the added advantage of being able to fold the bed away to generate even more space and have the option of a sofa if needed.

The room gets wonderful sunset views across the leafy residential area of South Launceston to the city lights beyond. It is very well insulated from both the summer heat and the winter cold, making it a comfortable space all year round.

Home Description

Description of the home

My house is a very quirky, characterful property in a quiet little pocket of South Launceston. It is within walking distance of the city, 24 hour shops, bus routes, and the hospital.

The house has plenty of living and eating spaces, as two of the bedrooms are used as living spaces and there is a spacious kitchen/dining area. The back garden is awesome, it's quite private and tucked away, overlooked by a wonderful little deck space where I spend my afternoons chilling with a cuppa tea after work with my pets. There are two wood stoves and an open fireplace for cold nights, but the house is well insulated and provides a beautiful cool haven in the hotter months. I'm very creative and have many interests, so there are some paintings, musical instruments, books, and art materials dotted around the place. Despite this, I keep the place very clean and tidy and uncluttered, so it is always a restful yet inspiring place with a welcoming and homely vibe, and a vibrant, aesthetic charm.

You would have your own bathroom and full use of the shared living and eating spaces, and use on approval of a small bath in the second bathroom.

The $350/week rent includes all bills and fast internet access, $500/week for couples.

About occupants
I am a 47 year old artist, musician, writer, and researcher, and am currently working as a relief teacher too. The family consists of me, a small parrot, a beautiful tabby cat, and a chook who lives outside. I love my animals, and you would need to love animals too!

I am sociable, friendly, easy going, accommodating, and generally bright and cheerful. I work a lot at home, but when I'm not at work I am happy hanging out, playing music, gardening, painting, exploring, trying to get back into going to the gym, watching movies, going out to see live music or movies or plays, dancing, community events and symposium. I'm happy to hang out with you, or to leave you be, I go with the flow and respect personal space and boundaries.

I'm an extremely respectful and accommodating housemate, I am houseproud and love to live in a really welcoming, relaxing, beautiful space, and would be happy to discuss whatever you may need to ensure everybody's time in the house is as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

I'm originally from England, but I'm 100% Tasmanian now, I love Tassie and I love Launceston!
Compatible people
My housemate would have to be kind, polite, considerate, respectful, and love animals as they are important members of the household. Being clean and tidy is definitely preferred, but general common sense covers this, I feel!
The ability to communicate effectively about any needs or issues would be useful, although I am very approachable and accommodating so can easily navigate acute shyness or anxiety issues which may impede the ability to bring matters to my attention. :)
Description of pets
Nancy is a small 9 year old green cheek conure parrot, super intelligent, very sociable, and can talk. She spends her days flying around the house and has perches around the house, but sleeps in a cage when it gets dark. Nancy goes with me everywhere, however, so there will be many moments where she will not be in the house.

Moon Pearl is a 14 week old silver tabby kitten, very very very cute and playful. She is an indoor kitty, so housemates will need to ensure that she does not slip outside! Fortunately, however, both the front and back doors to the house have another internal door which makes it easy to keep parrots and kitties indoors!
