Personal introduction
My name is Fatemeh, and I am a joint PhD candidate in Hydrology between the University of Bonn (Germany) and the University of Melbourne. I will be coming to Melbourne starting Feb 2026, as part of my PhD program, and I am looking for a quiet, comfortable apartment where I can live and work productively during this period (one year at least).
My research focuses on catchment hydrology and water quality. In Melbourne, I will be collaborating closely with researchers at the University of Melbourne on a defined project, so my life will be structured around regular office hours, independent research, and writing. Because of this, I treat my home as a calm, organised space where I can rest and concentrate.
In terms of lifestyle, I am a quiet, responsible, and tidy person. I do not smoke and I do not host loud parties. Most of my time at home is spent cooking simple meals, working on my laptop, reading, or going to the gym. I am respectful of shared spaces and very conscious of noise, especially in the evenings. I am used to living in apartments and in shared buildings where consideration for neighbors is important, and I take that seriously.
I am very organized with finances and commitments. As a PhD candidate, I have secure funding and income for the duration of my stay in Melbourne (through my university position and scholarship), and I can provide proof of income, enrolment, and sponsorship from the university if required. I am also happy to provide references from my academic supervisors and, where helpful, from previous landlords or flatmates. I understand the importance of paying rent on time and looking after the property as if it were my own.
Cleanliness and care for the living space are very important to me. I keep things neat and well maintained, and I am careful with furniture, appliances, and fixtures. I am used to following house rules, body corporate rules, and building guidelines. If any issue arises in the apartment, I communicate early and clearly so that it can be resolved quickly and properly.
I am also very reliable and straightforward to communicate with. I am comfortable using email, phone, or messaging, and I respond promptly to requests or questions. Because I am in Melbourne for research, stability and a good relationship with the landlord or property manager are a priority for me. My goal is to find a place where both sides feel comfortable and confident throughout the tenancy.
